Scanning update sets in ServiceNow


Scanning single update sets

→ To scan a single update set

  1. In your ServiceNow environment, go to Local Update Sets and navigate to the one you want to check.
  2. Open the update set. 
  3. Click the Live Check button. This analyzes all changes contained in the update set, and returns all the issues found.
  4. Go to Related Links > Quality Clouds Live Check Issues tab to review and remediate the issues. 


Scanning multiple update sets

→ To scan multiple update sets from list

  1. In your ServiceNow environment, go to Local Update Sets and navigate to the ones you want to check.
  2. Check the update sets to select them from the list. 
  3. From the Actions drop-down menu, select Quality Clouds Live Check List. This analyzes all changes contained in the update sets, and returns all the issues found.
  4. To see the issues, navigate to an update set of your interest and go to Related Links > Quality Clouds Live Check Issues tab to review and remediate the issues. 


Scanning parent update sets

You can also scan parent update set. This analyzes all update sets included, and returns result per each update set individually. 

→ To scan parent update sets

  1. In your ServiceNow environment, go to Local Update Sets and navigate to the parent one you want to check.
  2. Open the parent update set. 
  3. Click the Live Check button. This analyzes all changes contained in all the update sets included in this parent, and returns all the issues found.
  4. To see the issues, navigate to an update set of your interest and go to Related Links > Quality Clouds Live Check Issues tab to review and remediate the issues. 

Scanning an .xml update set in the Admin portal

For update sets stored locally in xml format, use the Scan Update Set feature in Quality Clouds. By doing so, you scan your update set before committing it to ServiceNow.

→ To scan update sets

  1. Log in to the Quality Clouds admin portal.
  2. Go to Scan Update Set.
  3. Click Upload, and select a valid update set file. 

The update set is now being scanned, and after a short while you can see the scan summary. You can review the elements found or issues in the portal or download a .zip file with its contents. An email is also sent automatically, containing scan results.
