Working with Copado User stories

 Running scans

When working with Copado, you have the option to launch scans either automatically or manually.

Automatic scans

A scan will be automatically launched every time some changes are committed in a User Story whose related repository has been defined in Quality Clouds. It is essential to have Quality Clouds quality gates enabled to launch automatic scans.

An automatic scan will help you identify issues before you integrate and close your story.

Manual scans

In a Copado user story, you'll find a button labeled 'Run Quality Clouds Scan Flow,' that, when clicked, initiates a scan.

→ How to manually launch a scan?

  1. Select the story you want to check the code.
  2. Click the 'Run Quality Clouds scan flow' button.

A check is now performed on the repository branch related to the story.

Control the changes

Each time a user wants to 'Submit Changes' to promote a User Story, our app will verify that the changes made in that User Story do not violate the Quality Gates definition of Quality Clouds, preventing its promotion in case of any violations.

To achieve this, it will validate that there is a Quality Clouds scan launched after the latest changes made in the User Story, and it must have passed the Quality Gates. Otherwise, it will prevent the promotion. A message will appear informing the reason why it failed.

→ What if Quality Gates failed?

If quality gates fail during the promotion of a user story in Copado, there are two possible solutions:

  1. You could solve the issues manually in the code.
  2. You can request a write-off, click here to learn how.
